Okay, sure I’m a little biased, but this article I just came across really hit a cord with me. I think (and hope) a lot of people here in our little corner of the internet feel the same way ☺

I do hope we begin to see more quality, indie software, but with user expectations increasingly including cloud-based, mobile, cross-platform (often through a browser or packaged web app), including multi-player, and realtime updates/rendering, the table stakes increase significantly.

[37 Signals](https://37signals.com) has always done a great job of maintaining that indie spirit, despite their products being cloud based, and [DHH recently made an eye opening post](https://world.hey.com/dhh/our-cloud-exit-savings-will-now-top-ten-million-over-five-years-c7d9b5bd) about how their transition from commercial cloud (AWS) to running their own servers will not only save them millions in just a few years, but also increase their capacity to deliver better products.

Think Different™, dance to the beat of your own drum, and always remember to zig when they zag. 😉
