Website Address Settings

What is the difference between the Website Address settings in the General Settings and the ones setup inside of the publishing settings?

What wins? Are these redundant now? Should the one in General be removed?

You can specify an address that applies to all publishing destinations, then override that on an individual destination if you want.

A niche feature that a lot can ignore, but if you’re publishing to a staging server first it’s very useful.

OK. Some customers are getting confused about having to set the web address in general and in the publishing settings. Or they change general expecting it to be published but the publish settings are overwriting.

I like the ability to have different addresses, it’s a clever setup and works great. I just was wondering it it could be refined for the average user.

related… the customer has the web address set without http:// setup. Anyway to add more checks so that this is not possible?
