Not sure if blurring will help with stopping crawlers, the text is still on the page?

Doubt it has spam bot prevention capabilities, but feels somewhat safer.

I can still see the whole text that are blurred in the source code so no, it will not prevent the crawlers or email harvester from capturing it.
