Dan a reminder to organise Globals alphabetically/numerically. You did say you would do it.
Cheers.
What might also be useful is to have globals positioned at the top of the All Components list as I think they should be really be separate from the vanilla Components list?
Also, the globals filter doesn’t appear to work?
If I have All Components selected then the Globals heading is present with Globals listed. If I select Globals and under Groups in the filter pull down, it shows: No items found > Try adjusting your filter.
Global Templates will be moving into their own panel. You’ll be able to manage and organize them into folders (like you do resources)
Can someone tell me the difference between a Global and a Global Template. If they are different, surely one should be called Globals and the other just Templates to distinguish them.
Can someone tell me the difference between a Global and a Global Template.
They are the same thing, a Global is the short name for “Global Template”.
I think there’s a little bit of confusion going on here with the upcoming Templates features.
Global Templates (aka Globals for short) are linked, whereas Templates are standalone and not linked once placed in your site.
Templates: Templates are groups of Components that have been put together to create a design or layout. Once a template is dropped into your page you can customise how you like, and it is no longer linked to the original template.
Global Templates (aka Globals): You can reuse global template blocks across your site so you only need to update the content in one place and have it automagically mirrored in all other instances of that global.
If you’re still unsure, don’t worry. It will all become much clearer once we demo the new Templates feature net week
For me Dan, words have meaning and so we must be precise about what we are talking about. I’m fine if you call one Templates and the other Globals, but when you combine the two as Global Templates it becomes confusing as to what you are talking about and confusion is not the phone calls you want in your support department. It’s easily fixed, just give them precise but different names.
Cheers.
