Advance Setting - Relative Link Question

I’m thinking of changing my Advanced Link setting from Relative to Page - Relative to Website Address.

My thinking is based on a report from https://copywritely.com showing links as: (see attached photo)
[stainless-steel-floor-cleanout/" target=“_blank”>](https://copywritely.com/tools/copywritely/task/<span data-match-index-1=1 class=)

Using RW Classic, Foundry2, Stacks 5

Questions:

  1. Will all links (including Mega Menu Navigation) update automatically to full https://domain.com/path
  2. If I do change - can I continue to use Tidy Website Links ?

Or - should I have no concerns with the above “link report” ??

Thanx,
Pearson

Tidy URLs should continue to work regardless of the link setting you choose in RapidWeaver’s Advanced Settings.

@barchard wrote a nice guide ages ago explaining those different options. Check it out if you want to know more about it The bark and bite behind Filelinks in RapidWeaver | The Chillidog Software Blog. He recommends “Relative to Page”.

So does @yabdab https://yabdab.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017150974-Always-use-Relative-to-Page

What’s that report complaining about? The section you underlined in the screenshot just instructs the browser to open the link in a new tab (or window). Is it saying that’s a bad thing?

Thanks for a quick reply @dang , Funny thing is, the “-blank” usually opens a new window/tab.

However, this reporting (my terminology) comes from “Linked List Stack” I’m using for some bottom of page Nav and the Mega Menu Nav on top of page.

None of these relative to page links have the box checked to open in new window. On a couple pages, I do have a link or two with “open in new window” box checked, but VERY few.

I’m confused…lol

I think you can ignore whatever report that is. The target=“_blank” just instructs the browser to open the link in a new tab or window depending on what the visitor has set in their settings. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just personal preference on how you want your links to work.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the File Links setting in RapidWeaver’s Advanced Settings that you asked about. Personally I’ve always left that as “Relative to Page” as that’s been the recommended setting in the community for ages now. :slightly_smiling_face:

I also like forcing links to open in a new tab/window cuz I don’t like clicking the back button endlessly, but again that’s a personal preference.
