I’ve just downloaded version 3 but I can’t get the AI assistant to work. The panel keeps popping up asking me to configure the APIs.
I’ve enabled MCP Server and installed Claude, but I can’t see the assistant working. I’m wondering if it’s been blocked in Europe because of the Digital Act.
Thank you for your help.

I’ve attached some screenshots
And just to follow up on what @differentdan said with a little more detail (incase anyone else was confused):
The panel asking you to configure APIs is for the built-in Assistant inside Elements. That one needs your own OpenAI and/or Anthropic API key under Settings → AI → API Keys (you’ll see a Key saved label). Once a key is in, open the sparkles tab in the right-hand inspector and pick a model. Available on every Elements plan the provider bills you separately for API use.
What you’ve set up with MCP Server + Claude is a different path: that connects Claude Desktop (or another MCP client) to the open project. It doesn’t clear the in-app Assistant’s API-key prompt. If you’re happy working in Claude Desktop, keep Allow AI tools to interact with Elements on, Elements running with the project open, and use Claude there instead.
No, AI and the MCP should work on all version of Elements!
I’d try restarting Elements, check the MCP is enabled in the Element Settings. I’d also restart Claude and try again. If Claude still can’t connect ask it why.
