Alt Text and visual resources

There should be another field associated with images (and other visual elements) for alt text that could include different, and more descriptive, text than the caption field. At an absolute minimum it would be good if the image slider used the caption to provide the alt text if having a separate field can’t be done immediately.

Hi @mrp, If you use the Content Slider you can design the slides however you like as you get full freedom to use as many components as you need.

Hope that helps!

It’s got nothing to do with the slides. I’m complaining about the lack of alt text associated with the images.

Ah sorry, that’s a bug, we’ll get the caption assigned as the alt tag and ship an update with the fix!

What is the Link URL for?

It’s used to attach a link to images, The Image Slider, and Masonry Components currently support it

A caption is not the same as the alt tag

A caption is a visual description. It is not a sentence. It is typically short and concise (and has an aesthetic consideration)

An alt tag can be much longer, and more descriptive. It is recommended to be 1-2 sentences and up to 150 characters

They are not designed to do the same thing.

If I write my captions as alt tags, they are long and ugly. If I write my alt tags as captions, they do not satisfy SEO needs

In Elements the field is multipurpose, while it’s titled caption it can also be used for the alt tag.

Thanks for the feedback, we’ll consider adding an extra field in future.
