Application Already Configured

  1. I installed CMS 2.0 on a site.
  2. I activated it.
  3. I added an article to it.
  4. Then I decided that I wanted to upgrade to Solo.
  5. I bought Solo license.
  6. The open URL for the CMS online editor changed to a list of folders.
  7. I tried opening the site again, and now get the Setup Wizard again. When I try entering anything there, I get “Application is Already Configured.”

So how do I get to the Solo online editor now?

I’m not sure what you mean by this, could you clarify? Maybe a screenshot would help.

Do you have a URL for the login page that you can share?

Answer:

Delete the /rw/elements/com.elementsplatform.cms/editor/php/config.php file and reconfigure.

Next problem: “License server unreachable. Please try again shortly.”

I’m going to guess there’s an issue with your hosting provider. Likely a configuration issue or missing extension.

Could you send me the error log for your site?

I’m now getting into the online editor, but at the top it shows:

"Grace PeriodExpires 5/29/2026, 10:14:15 AM

License server unreachable — using cached validation (grace period)."

This is a small site I use for testing and it’s on Dreamhost. I just noticed I hadn’t had logging turned on so can’t show you that yet.

Overall, I’m finding the new CMS has a lot of user-unfriendly geekiness to it. It works, but I can see why so many are asking for help with getting it running, as there are plenty of places you can make a mistake.

I’m also seeing inconsistencies. In your launch video you show that Status is one of the fields. When I deployed first time, I saw instead Featured and Image (Src/Alt).

Those fields are automatically detected from your markdown files frontmatter fields, so your files likely don’t have a status field.

If you could turn on logging, and then send me the log file, that would be very helpful.

This is a self-hosted CMS that does require a bit of setup, and it’s very difficult to ensure it works across all hosting environments and setups.

If you could let me know what you feel is user-unfriendly, or places where you’ve run into issues, we can look into those and see if we can improve things!

The installation of the ECMS 2.0 Online Editor is definitely much easier, more comfortable, and more straightforward than the installations of ALLOY and TCMS1 under RW Classic.

It’s worlds apart and significantly faster than it ever was with those two systems.
