Back Up File zip on republishing all files

Just testing marquee pro as just bought and Ive had a play and published the file into my trial - NO PROBLEMS at all. All works as expected. but just gone in to control panel and checked files to see all files there and an extra file a “back up” file folder when opens theres a zip file of my project. I have never seen this, so uploaded a different file to trial folder and I now have two backup files each with respective zip in. Is this new, correct or what? Please help me understand why I am getting this please.

@dan and @differentdan - is this something we did with htaccess file we forgot to take off?

Hi @PMUK

That’s normal, in the Elements 2.0 beta we changed the default project file Backup Frequency setting from “Never” to “Every Time I Publish”.

This change was for data security as we found most people were not properly backing up their project files, which resulted in them losing data (their website) in the event something happened on their Mac and they didn’t have a local copy of their project file to restore from.

With this setting enabled a backup of your project file is uploaded to your web hosting account, so you have an extra backup in case anything happens to your Mac and you lose your local project file.

You can always change that setting back to “Never” if you don’t wish to store a backup on your web hosting account, however we don’t recommend it. I’ve seen a lot of customers lose their website because something happened on their Mac and they lost their project file, and didn’t have any backup to restore form.

Dan THANKS for coming back so soon I appreciate it. On phone call last weekend if you remember we saved a backup and then you told me to delete as soon as we finished so I thought I would need to delete this on. So glad I noticed and you have reassured me. THANKS again!

Yeah that was a different backup. :slightly_smiling_face:

Not a problem, happy to help.

Dan wow a different back up! I was always taught and learned by experience that you BACKUP/BACKUP/BACKUP! so that must have been the second or third one then?:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Have a great DAY! Stay dry and warm!

HAHA impossible. It is pouring rain as we speak, and it’s always cold inside in the winter, housing insulation doesn’t exist here

:sob:
