Beta 23 - Issues

@dan

Resources - Unfortunately still a pain point :sob: Had to force quit a multitude of times and restart Elements, then after the fifth or sixth time the thumbnails in resources were generated and Elements didn’t hang and I was able to work for a prolonged period of time. See screenshot below. Whenever thumbnails aren’t generated, Elements will 100% hang and you have to force quit. Also, when manually sorting resources, the editing window jumps up to the top.

Adding the automatic sorting of Resources would also be great!! :wink:

CMD-Z (Undo) Crashes - This only occurs occasionally. Other times it works. Happened once today, you should have crash report about it.

Text Component - If you double click in an empty portion of the Text Component, nothing happens. You have to double click over existing text to enter editing mode. Select All, Copy, and Paste all working correctly, however Shift-Click doesn’t work. If you Shift-Click while in editing mode, it exits editing mode and selects the Text Component.

Otherwise I am still plugging along, rewriting my current website and slowly getting there. As I have gotten used to Elements, my speed in completing the design portion of individual pages has greatly increased, and overall enjoy working in and with Elements. It really is awesome!!

@dan
When working in hooks panel and template - responsiveness for typing text has taken a nosedive - ie. type a character- wait 2 secs before it appears - almost unusable now.

I can report that I’m also seeing all of these problems.

Including today I ran into problems where Elements would crash when I was trying to interact with an SVG image well in the property inspector. I was able to create this problem three times in a row. It did not like me trying to use the CHOOSE button to find and image.

I’d also like to drag the following bugs up again as they did not get fixed in this beta.

  1. Support for anchors inline in TEXT and TYOPGRAPHY components.
  2. Support for BORDERS in TEXT blocks

Yes, we know about this and it’s on the list to fix, hang in there!

CMD-Z (Undo) Crashes - This only occurs occasionally.
Make sure you submit crash reports when it happens, a description of what you were doing at the time is always helpful too!

I’ve been unable to reproduce this one. I can double click anywhere in the box and it goes into edit mode.

Can you supply a sample project (and or video) that shows the issue?

Hmm, we’re not seeing this here. I wonder if it’s something you’re doing that’s slowing down the component/editor rendering :thinking:

Can you do the following:

  1. Create a new document, and a new html component — Is it still slow for you?
  2. Can you send us a sample document with the slow component in it?

Can you send us a sample project with the SVG that crashes for you?

This is not a big more of a feature request! Anyway, I’ve added it to the list as you essentially want to set an id on a block of type within the editor.

Yup, it’s on this list and is coming. For now if you need this, just wrap your text component in a container.

Recording emailed to you (haven’t played much with video and couldn’t get in a format to attach here)

Project: elementsapp://downloadDocument/XHJf97MYilhc

The specific page I used for an example is: Parachute Wing Backgrounds - Infantry Regiments but it happens on any page with Text Component.

Thanks for the video and project, I can reproduce your issue here, so we’re taking a look now!

Although it would be convenient to set anchors in text, that was not the issue I was referring to.

The bug is that when setting up an inline link if you select an anchor from the dropdown it does not work. Selecting the link will take you to the top of the page. As mentioned before there is a workaround as you can simply enter the URL with the #anchor-name notation and it works fine. But it should work the same way as any other place a link to an anchor can be set.

I will try to reproduce it and then send something. Although I think I have discovered the problem might not lie with Elements, instead it has something to do with the Open/Save dialog that I was trying to open when selecting the CHOOSE button. I use DefaultFolderX and it looks like it is having problems as I was seeing similar problems elsewhere. I have disabled it now so I’ll see if the problem still persists.
