BUG: Image / Aspect Ratio does not work

@realmacteam @dan @ben @tpbradley

The picture element, especially the aspect ratio, is not working properly.

I have a picture that I want to align vertically upwards, for example. However, if I then activate the point for the breakpoint, the setting is lost.

It is therefore not possible to make different settings for different breakpoints.

Happens to me too. Only way to resolve it is to remove the image component and start again.

yes, unfortunately it’s absolutely frustrating… I just can’t make any progress with my templates.

i know it’s a beta …

@dan & team can you please put this problem on the todo list? thank you!

Thanks for the heads-up. @ben is going to take a look at this tomorrow morning and find out what’s going on. Stay tuned!

Hi @Pegasus,

Due to how the current object position controls are implemented, they unfortunately can’t be applied responsively at the moment. So there shouldn’t be a Responsive Override Dot available on those controls, that is a bug.

That said, I’ve taken a closer look and I believe we can redesign these controls to support responsive settings. The downside is that making this change would likely require resetting the object position values in existing projects.

I’ll discuss it with the team and see if we can work a solution into the next beta :slightly_smiling_face:

Let us know if you have any specific use cases you’d like us to keep in mind!

Basically, it would be nice if the Responsive Override Dot for Vertical & Horizontal worked in the Aspect Ratio.

This would make it possible to define the focus on specific areas in the image for the different breakpoints, especially for 9:16 or 16:9 aspect ratios, specifically when different custom ratios (xl 9:16, lg 7:5, sm 1:1) have been defined for different breakpoints.

many thanks und good to see that our feedback is important for you. :+1:

Awesome, it looks like we’re going add this feature. It should make it into a build soon :tada:

This one is now fixed, it does mean a new replacement control has been added. This means that if you have customised the positions settings on an Image in an existing project, you will need to manually update this new object position control.
