I have a website http://www.bhphoto.biz/ built with RW v 8.9.4 which appears to have been affected by changes to Zen - viz - " Zen Internet is upgrading its shared Linux hosting platform from CloudLinux 7 with WHM 110 to CloudLinux 9 with WHM 118"
I am guessing that my problem is due to support for older PHP versions being removed. I do not have the technical understanding to check or alter PHP versions or databases. Any advice on how to proceed would be very gratefully received!
PHP version 8.4.10 is the current version, although most hosters support 8.1 and upwards. Versions 8.3 and 8.4 are the only versions that get bug fixes, while 8.1 and 8.2 get security fixes (but no bug fixes).
If your project is on a version of PHP that is no longer supported, you’ll have to replace the components on your site with newer version until the PHP errors go away. You can then republish your project and all will be fine.
Thank you, I think that you have pointed me in the right direction but unfortunately when I go to the Advanced tab I do not have an option to disclose the PHP version…
Ah… I’m sorry, I completely missed that you’re using RapidWeaver version 8.
Unfortunately, that version of RapidWeaver predates the release of PHP 8.x and does not support it. There’s also no way to add in PHP 8.x into RapidWeaver 8.
Your best bet is to upgrade to RapidWeaver Classic (which is version 9), which supports newer versions of PHP.
Thank you again for your help! I’ll check with my hosting provider tomorrow just make sure that it is nothing at their end but upgrading looks like an essential task.
Just to wrap this up - I don’t think that the problem was related to PHP. Zen Internet, who host my site have had major c panel issues ov er the weekend and fortunately everything is now restored to how it was! However I did download RW Classic and opened my project to check how it worked with the upgrade. All OK except for the Joe Workman stack Offsite which did not display at all. My version must be at least five years old so I’m not surprised and will see if that can be upgraded. I will upgrade to Classic/v9 as it makes sense to keep up to date.
