Changing image size

I am unable to change size of images. Someone earlier posted that he used Preview/Tools to resize it, and then added the adjusted photo to Elements.

This does not work for me. No matter what file size I select in Preview, the final image size on the Elements page is always too large.

Dan did you a video on origonal post have you seen it?

Have not seen it, and can’t find it.

Watch the video I recorded for you on this other thread, I’ll also include it below.

Well - I thought that I had everything set, but suddenly as I continue to add text boxes the font will not be the font selected. My website has Times New Roman as the standard font, but all new text goes to some default font in Elements.

That is what I too have been looking for! Thanks!!!

Why not duplicate a text box that has the font set the way you like it, move it to where you want then edit the text?

That is the quick and dirty way. I am sure there is an easy way to alter the default font in a very early one of the vidoes.

Elements makes me feel like Sisyphus - I will never make it to the top.

Today I am unable to write any text. How do I recover from that?

HI @traut

Have you tried restarting both Elements and your Mac?

If you have, and you are still unable to write, could you explain in a bit more detail what you are trying to do? Sharing your project file would also help us understand what is going on

I have been working on this website (unpublished, because incomplete) for some time.

This weekend typing ceased to work; today it works just fine. At this point some one at RapidWeaver would say “Problem solved”. But, because I appear to have no ability to resolve such problems (and Elements has too many), it would be good to know how I could do that.

I can send you a link to my file in progress if you tell me how to do that.

Sure, you can do that via Elements Cloud. Once you’re signed up and logged in, you can easily share your project.

I’d still need a bit more info around exactly what is not working, for example: which components can you not type in to, can you type in to other areas of the app such as the project settings, page settings. Is it only Elements that doesn’t work to type in to?

OK, here is my link:

The immediate problem is that Elements is inconsistent with my chosen font - Times New Roman.
Sometimes it permits that font, and often it does not, permitting only a default font in Elements.

I’m not seeing a Text Component where you can’t set Times New Roman. Do you mean you can’t select Times New Roman in the the Theme Fonts section?

Also, you’re using Text everywhere. You’ve got articles, so for that you’d typically use Typography for those, and define font in Article in the Theme.

The text component is selected in the attached jpg

So I looked at the page you’re talking about. You can (and I can) set Times New Roman on the highlighted Text Component. If you highlight some text, you can select in the Inspector between Times New Roman (the font you added) or Body, Code, Heading, or Quote, which are defined by the Theme.

Please re-read the manual section on Text ( Text | RapidWeaver Elements Docs ), watch the videos, and see if that helps you understand how the Text Component works. But this is one of the reasons for my response, above. When you’re doing longer text than a paragraph, it almost always makes sense to do this via a Typography Component, because you can do more Theme-related control of it.
