Classic Alt tags

I am trying to add alt text to an image. This is what I am doing. In the edit mode, I locate the image on the page, click the “i” inspector in the top right of the element, double-click on the lower right portion of the image. Under Image content, then click Image publishing. Complete File name, from arrow menu, choose image format: JPEG, under Alt Tag: enter a descriptive explanation of the image’s content (i.e., “Text.” The alt tag does not appear. What steps am I missing? Thank you for any assistance.

Hi @Zuo4she3

You can add text for an Image’s alt attribute via the “Description” field in the Image’s controls.

Hope that helps

Ben thank you for your prompt reply. My image content page looks a little different than yours but the steps appear to be similar. However I am still. unable to add an alt tag to my images. below is a screen shot of my page. Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Ah, that is RapidWeaver Classic and the Stacks plugin, not RapidWeaver Elements!

I think there was some confusion as you posted your question in the “Elements” category. I’ll move your post to the Classic category.

You don’t need to include the “alt tag syntax”; you can simply write “Sheriff Vehicle…” in the alt tag field.

I know you’re currently using Stacks, but I’d definitely recommend taking a look at switching to Elements for your website. It’s been built from the ground up as a modern replacement, faster, more flexible, and designed to evolve.

In my opinion, Stacks served the community well for many years, but development appears to have stalled on the plugin, and the underlying architecture is starting to show its age. Elements was created to move beyond those limitations, with a modern code base, cleaner output, and a future-proof foundation.

We’re actively developing Elements with exciting weekly updates and a growing ecosystem of projects and components. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re ready for a smoother, more modern workflow.

Thank you for your response and I will take your suggestion and move to Elements. Is there a starter package available for purchase. If so I would like to get started right away. As a side note, I am new at this website business, I am enjoying the journey with RapidWeaver.

Hey @Zuo4she3,

That’s great to hear, I think you’ll find Elements much nicer to work with

You can build anything with the built-in components inside of Elements. However, a faster way to get up and running is to start with one of the free Projects included in the Elements Project chooser.

There are also some other great projects available for purchase over on the Elements Marketplace.

Hope that helps!

Dan,

Thank you. I have ordered and downloaded elements. Currently, studying the manual and viewing the videos. Looking forward to test driving elements.
