Cloudfare

Can someone tell me what CLOUDFARE is??? I was asked to sign up to it when I joined ELEMENTS but don’t actually know what it does…???

Cloudflare is a service that sits between your website visitors and your web server. It can make a website faster by storing copies of files such as images and CSS on servers near the visitor, rather than always loading them from your hosting server.

It also acts like a protective shield: it can filter malicious traffic, reduce the impact of DDoS attacks, and hide your real server IP address from the public.

In practice, you usually point your domain’s DNS to Cloudflare, then enable its proxy for web traffic. Cloudflare forwards legitimate requests to your hosting server while providing caching, HTTPS/TLS options, firewall rules, bot protection, and DNS management.

In short: Cloudflare can make the site faster, safer, and more reliable without moving the website to a different web host.

There’s some more information on Cloudflare in the documentation.

@differentdan will be able to help you with any specific questions you have about Cloudflare, he’s the true hosting wizard around here :man_mage:

Do I have to physically have to add my domains to Cloudfare???

Hi @Geordiejim49

We add them for you and set up all the performance and security optimizations so you don’t have to worry about it. It’s a part of our managed hosting service. :slightly_smiling_face:

Feel free to send us an email letting us know what domains you want to add and we’ll get them added onto your managed Cloudflare account. :+1:

CLOUDFARE is showing that I have no domains registered…???

Hi @Geordiejim49

You don’t need to worry about this, your domains are fine. The invoice you paid today for your domain renewal was successful and that domain was renewed for an additional year. You can view this in your Client Portal.

Also for questions about specific account details, it’s best you email us instead of post these on the public forum. Feel free to send us an email if you need further help or have additional questions about your domains. :slightly_smiling_face:
