CMS Error after update to 2.1 or macOS update

Browser Preview / not published

Hi, whenever I want to preview a CMS item like a text, I get this error:
Notice: fread(): Read of 8192 bytes failed with errno=21 Is a directory in /Applications/Elements.app/Contents

This happened after the update to 2.1. At the same time I updated to macOS 26.3.1, so it might be related to that one.

I can send the project via private mail, as the project is not for the public.

Thank you

As far as I’m aware nothing has changed in the CMS that would cause this issue. Is this error appearing on local preview or on your web server?

If it’s local, try restarting your Mac and let me know how you get on.

Local only - all is good when published. After a restart I get when previewing the page with a CMS item:

Where can I send the project to? It is not urgent.

Thank you,
Jan

I am getting the following errors when an archive page attempts to access CMS records:

Notice: fread(): Read of 8192 bytes failed with errno=21 Is a directory in /Applications/RapidWeaver Elements.

and,

Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access this resource.
Apache/2.4.66 (Debian) Server at lastsongsyndrome.com Port 443

Send the project over to forumsupport@realmacsoftware.com and we’ll take a look!

Do you want me to send as an attachment to a email?

I’m getting Notice: fread(): Read of 8192 bytes failed with errno=21 Is a directory in /Applications/Elements.app/Contents error on clicking on a post in 2.1 when trying to preview a site.

You can upload the project file to Elements Cloud, and then send the link to that project file in the email.

If anybody is experiencing any issue with a live site, you can downgrade to the previous version of Elements from our release notes page here then republish the site while things are being investigated.

I’ll wait for your investigation and see if the problem is related to the update. Thank you.

@dan Close - the site itself opens, but a / is missing in the preview url:

Wrong:
http://127.0.0.1:62289/poems---essays/poem?item=abby-s-songs

Correct:
http://127.0.0.1:62289/poems---essays/poem/?item=abby-s-songs

See the / before the ?

We’ve just pushed a new build of 2.1.1 live that should fix the issue…

CMS pages are now working as desired. Thank you for the quick investigation and fix of the problem.
