@dan how long before Elements can package up a component

I don’t have a timeline for you, but I can say that the built-in store (including distribution for free components) is SUPER high on the list now as many devs are building components and will want to ship them soon-ish :grimacing:

upssjw Steve W, Where/how can I get your Columns float light version and can you explain what the full version can do. Price for both too.

@paulcruice

no charge both columns and float are free I have already posted them somewhere on the forum,
You can have them tomorrow, I will repost

I have refined them a little but they work, just waiting to package them up, waiting for this to be implemented in Elements, I suppose I could create dev packs will look at tomorrow, otherwise it will be just the custom component for now

the only thing different at the moment it has lots of ways to setup columns a couple of switches include but have some thing to add see difference

Steve W, thanks for the quick reply.
Just a Custom Component is all I need. I presume the Columns element grows in length as more text is added? Probably a stupid question.

I am not sure why there is so much resistance to having a RapidWeaver made Columns Component. I have a lot of text on my web site and people viewing it on a computer screen do not want to be reading a long line of text. That is why The Times newspaper designed columns of about 1.75 inches (44.5mm) width. The presentation is much better, the readability is heaps better, you don’t lose the next line you are to read, plus more.
Am happy to pay Steve. You did the work, you deserve to be paid for it.

Steve,
How do I import this Columns Component I downloaded from you into my version of Elements.

hope this makes sense, anyway its the way I do this, probably an easier way

I have the downloaded projected open on the right

I have a project on the left (I should have created before I started ) the project on the left would be your project

select the columns component from the right and drag across to your project and drop in the page tree view where you want columns positioned, sometimes just drop anywhere then move as required

it then should show up under components, you can use or delete my setup on the page

drop the columns in a container to add more control, I dropped it in to 2 containers

download this version I forgot to add Flow Fix , copy across as well

Flow Fix will drag across into components you can delete from tree view if you dont need but if you start a new columns it would need to be added, you might never need to use that if you do and need to understand let me know, it when you add images etc or want text etc to flow or start in different columns

@paulcruice let me know how to get on

No matter what I do I can’t get anything across. The page just goes white when dragged across.

@dan please could you check and see if this copies for you onto the page

@paulcruice try downloading this project and dropping columns in between the containers, it doesnt always stick, maybe its me

elementsapp://downloadDocument/0w73kwBUcl2R

you need to do the same for flow fix otherwise you get missing

Element,

I can move from one of your documents to the other of your documents but I am unable to move it to my document. And I was only able to move the Columns and not Flow Fix.

Without seeing your document not sure, @dan might need to help

You could also try selecting the component in Steve’s document and press command-c (copy), then go to your document, and click into the editor, and press command-v (paste).

You should now have the custom component in your document

Failing that if you share your project via Elements cloud, we can move the custom components over for you!

Yes Dan C. that did the trick. Thanks for the help.
Thanks too to you upssjw Steve for the actual product. I will now see how it works.
Cheers.

Steve, I have been able to get the Columns element into my files now. But there are problems.
I placed a Column element on a page and added a Text element to it. It gives me ONE column, just one and there is no method of changing the number of Columns.
Cheers
