Components does not showing in Editor

Hi,
today i startet play with elements 0.6.3. First all things are good. Now after so hour not working with it, no Components were shown in the editor.

this tip from December

"We’re aware of this bug and it’s actually something we’re working on fixing for the next beta

It’s an issue with the editor not updating (even though the objects are there). To workaround this until the next beta, simply create another page, and swap to it and then back again (you should only need to do this once)."

does not work for me…

Have you tried restarting Elements?

Also, could you share this project with us (via Elements Cloud) and we can get it fixed up for you!

Testproject not showing the components

Looks okay here - Does this look correct to you?

Hi Dan,
yes, that’s what it looked like for me too - but from a certain point on I only see that…

Neither restarting Elemens nor restarting the MBP brings any improvement.
Even a completely new and empty Elements project doesn’t help…

Oh that is very strange - If you start a new project, does that work?

No it does not work with a new project…

Can you try clicking on one of these…

Unfortunately, this does not change the display.

Try deleting the preferences, but before you do make sure you have a copy of your license number to hand as you’ll need to re-enter it.

  1. Make sure Elements is not running

  2. In the finder press press “Command-Shift-G” to bring up the Go To Folder window and paste in the following:

~/Library/Containers/com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaverelements/Data/Library/Preferences/com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaverelements.plist

  1. Delete the file: com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaverelements.plist

  2. Re-launch Elements (and re-register).

Fingers crossed you should be back up and running now!

I followed your instructions - but unfortunately there was no improvement. Elements also didn’t ask me for the license number - it just started…

Maybe this helps you … elements.log

Calling in @tpbradley to help on this one!

@herbertkoeppel This seems to be a bit of a conundrum, leave it with me and I’ll do some digging to figure out what’s going on here.

@herbertkoeppel We’ve just released a new build, 0.6.5 that will hopefully get your editor working again. Can you update and let us know how you get on, thanks!

174 / 5.000
Unfortunately, after the update, nothing has changed about the problem - neither with the existing project nor with a new one.

It’s like a curse - it worked at first…

Could you send us a new screenshot with the latest build?

@herbertkoeppel Also, could you try holding down the option (alt) key, then choosing the Help → Clear Application Preferences menu item. Elements should ask you to confirm, just hit the “Clear & Relaunch” button.

When I sent the email today it didn’t work - now that I wanted to respond to your request with the screen with the new build - it suddenly works again? Very strange… I hope it stays like this now, that it is always displayed…

There is another question, is there actually a way to migrate projects that were made with Rapidweaver 9.1.1 into an Elements project?

I think you’re on macOS 13.7.1 (from the logs above), but Im also wondering what Mac you’re running it on?

I’m only asking as we’ve not had this issue reported before and it seems like a very strange bug, one that shouldn’t be possible

Not at this time, Element based websites are built completely differently so there’s no easy way to open those older Classic documents. We may look at building an importer at a later date, should the demand be there.

However, you should see this as a great opportunity to refresh your website and bring it up-to-date with modern web technologies and standards.
