Contact Form Help Needed

@ben. You help me with this some months ago. My host FINALLY update the PHP, and I have checked to see it is working.

But I must have something set wrong because I get nothing when I click “Submit”. What do I need to change to make it work?

Here’s my contact page URL:

You’d have to check with your host what the smtp details are for sending an email via PHP.

Send them a screenshot of the settings in Elements, ask what to fill in, and it should start working as expected

Interesting, it looks like iPage is owned by Network Solutions now, and I was helping another customer last week who is also on Network Solutions and their form wasn’t working.

Anyway, we couldn’t get ports 465 with SSL or 587 with TLS working with any of the settings, even though their help guide said those should work.

We did get port 25 working though, with Encryption set to None.

I didn’t really like that solution because I prefer mail to be sent over ports with encryption enabled, but I’m waiting on that customer to let me know what Network Solutions advises about getting either port/encryption 465/SSL or 587/TLS working.

In the meantime you could try Port: 25 and Encryption: None to see if it works. That would help me figure out if it’s a wider problem with Network Solutions. :slightly_smiling_face:

I have it working now. Host: smtp.ipage.com, Port: 465, Encryption: SSL, Username: my email address, Password, my email password, From Address: my email address, To Address: my email address. I assume those can be different as long as they are bonafide email addresses on your host account.

Now I need to work on the Success and Failure setups, as well as Spam Protection. YES, I already got a spam email. So sad!

The From email should be on the hosting account, the To email can be to any valid email address, doesn’t have to be on the same hosting account.

Try the Honey Pot method first, it’s the easiest. If you get Spam submissions afterwards, you can try to switch over to a Recaptcha method, preferably Cloudflare’s solution as it’s the most non-intrusive IMO.

Awesome, happy it’s not a global Network Solutions thing. :slightly_smiling_face:

I turned on the Honey Pot protection.

A side note here for other iPage users; I used iPage’s link to update my account’s PHP version, but that did not work even though it said it was updated. I found out by using Elements “check PHP” function (instructions for that are on the Form page in the Elements online manual). When I connected with iPage’s support they sent me a different link to do the update. That worked.
