Contact Forms Rapidweaver Classic

Thanks for the Zoom offer Scott - my Mrs has just got out of hospital so I am always in a hurry. Will check the email is working from Webmail and the port (according to Dreamhosts is 22)

The webmail is working perfectly…

Hope the Mrs is ok. thats more important than email form.

so the email account works you can see that so we need to figure out the dream host SMTP settings to use that account to send email.

To send emails using Formsnap 3 with DreamHost’s SMTP server, you’ll need the following SMTP settings:

  1. SMTP Host: smtp.dreamhost.com
  2. SMTP Port: 587 (preferred) or 465 (for SSL)
  3. Encryption: TLS (for port 587) or SSL (for port 465)
  4. SMTP Authentication: true
  5. Username: Your full email address (e.g., contact@twinstickshooters.com)
  6. Password: The password for your email account

That should do it just set this up in Formsnap, I am helping Yabdab test the next version so I am very familiar with how this works.

Glad you got it resolved @Sparkoids !

Now, all these mentions of “twin stick shooter” in this thread is making me want to play Smash TV for some reason…

Cheers,
Erwin

It should be noted that James is using FormSnap 3 ( 4 is still in beta, and yes Scott is a tester ).

Indeed and we have a unique controller especially designed for that style of game…

Yes and thanks to yabdab for their help by email. What I don’t understand is why Dreamhosts are giving bogus information…

Depends on the support rep you are talking to, some go further in trying to figure out things than others. Luck of the draw.

It’s like roulette with support with most providers. thats why I converted my ISP that hosts my co location servers to Rapidweaver long ago. So if anything is up with technical questions they already use Rapidweaver for everything so they know how to answer a question properly .

Noooooooo :-{

When you have something working perfectly on Formsnap 3 (thanks scottsteven) and you are offered a discount upgrade to Formsnap 4 the answer is; “Thanks very much of the generous offer but I’ll stick to what’s working thanks”.

Needless to say the forms no longer work after the upgrade. Is there a difference between the way the SMTP works since it no longer authorises..

Thanks in advance…

Thought I’d give our Formsnap 4 a run through with SMTP. Took several attempts but ultimately got there using the following settings (cPanel environment):

Generic Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
(this may be smtp.dreamhost.com if you are still with Dreamhost)
Host Port: 587
Send Secure: (True)
Secure Prefix: TLS
Use Authentication: (True)
Username: full email address
Password: Not telling you that

Port 465 didn’t want to play ball at all with either SSL or TLS

I’ll see if that’s different from the settings I am using - thanks.

I reset the password by copying and pasting (in other words it was exactly the same) but it now works - thanks for your help
