Try removing/deleting all copies of Elements from your Studio Mac, and re-downloading a fresh copy of Elements.
Pop it into the Applications Folder and hopefully the next update (due next week now), will work just fine.
Failing that, it might be a Finder/Permissions issues
Hey, @elementsbot, do you have any advice on the “Update Error!” issue, how is this usually solved?
Ah, the old “Update Error!” nobody likes those . Dan’s advice is spot on. Start by ensuring that there are no duplicate copies of Elements on your Mac Studio. Delete any you find and download a fresh copy from the official Elements website. Install it directly to the Applications folder.
If the problem persists, it could indeed be a permissions issue. Here’s how to address that:
Check Permissions:
Reset Finder Preferences:
killall Finder
to refresh Finder.Hopefully, that sorts things out! Keep us posted if anything still seems off, the Elements community (and your friendly bot) are always here to help!
Just to put a closure on this, neither permissions nor finder reset fixed the issue.
I downloaded Elements again from my original invoice and now it works.
Here’s an interesting tidbit, though: the original application name was Rapidweaver Elements in my Applications folder, it’s now just Elements. I was one of the first wave to get into the beta: did you change the name somewhere along the line?
Yup, started out as RapidWeaver Elements, but we’ve since shifted to just “Elements” for the name in the Finder. This could well have been the issue!
Glad it’s all working now, have a great weekend
