Dev Diary Ep32 - Single Group Mode and More

Hello again,

Yesterday we released Elements Beta 6 with a whole host of improvements and fixes. While we still have a long way to go to the official launch, it’s worth acknowledging how far we’ve come in such a short space of time — It’s really exciting to be moving with development at such a pace in public!

This weeks video covers some of the UI changes we’ve been making as a result of your feedback. I think the Single Group Mode in the inspector might just be one of my favorite changes we’ve made recently!

Feedback

Keep the feedback coming, and if you have any feedback about today’s video please post them below.

See you next week

Thanks,
Dan & Team Realmac.

So if ask real nicely and promise not to send you too much feedback, will you get me the beta Real Soon Now? I’m leaving on a two week trip next week where I actually have the time to pay some close attention to Elements and play with how I’ll likely tie in other elements (;~) via the lower level bits.

I can, of course, wait. But I can’t promise that I’d give it the same thorough look anywhere near as quickly if I’m like, last on the beta list.

Like what I’m seeing. But you’ve been mostly showing “design to the mean” type things. I’m curious just how far we can go with it without too much effort.

so you start the video with a section??? which is no longer available??

The dev diary was recorded before we combined the Section and Container  Things are moving very fast…

When I say Section, just replace it with Container

And when he says, “dollars/pounds/Euros”, he really mean, chickens.

is that free range chickens ?

I like free chickens. But I don’t think you’ll get the RM guys to agree to free anything! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Great progress.:+1:t2:

I really like the look of this new Single Group Mode, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to bring this popup up so I can select the mode.

I have tried every possible key combo, but no joy. it would have been very helpful if you had told us what you did to open that popup.

If I could do this stuff for free I would, but everyone here at Realmac HQ needs a wage and has a family to support.

Ah sorry, it’s right-click, just like in the Finder.

I have a new iMac M3, 24”, future-proofed. How do I get your new software?!

I tried that and it did not work for me. All that happened when I did it was it either expanded or collapsed the group I clicked on. Is there some other place you have to click other than in a group heading?

Very strange. Can you post your RapidWeaver Elements build number, so we can make sure you’re on the latest version?

Check your mail

I’ve added you to the list, so expect an email in the coming weeks and months as we slowly add more testers!

It is build 22867.

OK, I was finally able to get to show up, a control-click does not work on a MacBook Pro but a double finger click does bring up the menu, interesting. I hardly ever use a double finger click for a right click. I’ll have to program my brain to remember that combo.

I would have used a control click myself. Not sure I would have thought about double click.

It certainly didn’t enter my mind, I just got lucky.
