So would it be possible to have both : a “styled” text editor and Markdown?
I’ve been away for a few days so just catching up on this.
Wow. It seems like some people don’t understand what a beta is. RealMac were being pushed by users to release the beta and now they’re getting whacked for it not being feature complete and production ready.
I greatly appreciate the progress, feature updates and builds of Elements. I’ve been super impressed with the fact Dan is willing to put videos out each week and explain to users what’s going on. Very few software companies go close to providing this much information.
If the beta doesn’t satisfy your every whim then maybe your expectations of a beta were too optimistic.
Understand the beta process, accept there will be hiccups and major changes, and be willing to contribute useful bug reports or feature requests. This way everyone will have a better product, sooner.
Keep up the good work Dan and RM, most of us appreciate it.
Elements is probably more Alpha than Beta. That’s my opinion.
That’s a fair enough comment, but it’s the users who were screaming for access. Patience is required - I’m sure they’re working very hard.
There is an Action in Shortcuts that converts Markdown to Rich Text so I don’t think that a Markdown component is needed right now anyway nor is an ability to import it. Just past it into Elements text block, select the text, bring up the Shortcut (ping me if you don’t know how) and use the Shortcut to convert it.
Of course, if and when we get GenAI and depending on how it is implemented, you would be able to select the text and ask the GenAI tool to convert it formatted text. But an idea like that is in limbo.
