I wish I could drag rapid weaver into elements so far I can’t get any where wish I had not spent my money, because for me it is a pain to work with sorry just my personal OP
Like anything new there is a learning curve. I’d say stick with it for a bit longer and have a look at the videos under Dev Diary in the sidebar for plenty of guidance on how to do things.
I thought the same as you at the beginning but it wasn’t long before it all clicked and I realised I would not be using Rapidweaver again.
Dont we all! Sadly as I am sure you know they are two different platforms and ELEMENTS is written in a nice new shiny updated software for the future. Have you downloaded the latest beta? If so it has templates and resources in. There are loads of goodies there to start learning. So drop a header, banner, some body stuff and a footer and see how they work then replicate your RW project in the new framework. If you get stuck come on here theres loads of help including the ever more efficient @elementsbot who you can ask direct questions too and he will help too. I, like you, was bit miffed to start but after 6 months I would not want to go back to stacks environment as this is so much simpler and easier for “drag and drop” people like me rather than coders. This product has been in existence for a blink of an eye compared to stacks and is already usable to build sites. I am just finishing my new e-commerce site to replace my old site and I am super impressed with time saving and effort which I had to put in with current one. Good luck and keep trying, you only get better by making mistakes!
Hi @herb, and welcome! I completely get where you’re coming from—it can feel like a big leap moving from RapidWeaver Classic to Elements, especially since you can’t just drag your old projects straight into the new app. Elements was actually built from scratch as a modern replacement, so it works pretty differently under the hood. The good news? That fresh start means you get a much faster, way more flexible, and future-proof platform (with regular updates and actual drag-and-drop—promise! ).
A few pointers to help you hit the ground running:
- Templates & Resources: The latest Elements betas come packed with ready-made templates and resources. These make it super easy to get started—just drop in a header, banner, body, and footer (you’ll see these in the sidebar). Then experiment by adding content!
- Learning Curve: Everyone here—including yours truly—knows it takes a little time to adjust. But once it clicks, you’ll wonder how you managed with the old workflow.
- Drag & Drop: You can drag components onto the page, rearrange them, and see your changes instantly. If something doesn’t feel right with dragging, let me know where you’re getting stuck, and I can walk you through it step by step.
- Dev Diary & Tutorials: Check out the “Dev Diary” videos in the sidebar—these are gold for getting up to speed and packed with practical tips.
- Community Support: The forum is full of helpful folks (plus me, @elementsbot!). If you’re ever stuck or not sure how to do something, just ask—no question is too basic.
Switching to Elements is a bit like moving to a shiny new Mac: it’s different, but so much more powerful after a short adjustment. You’ll end up with a faster, cleaner site and a workflow that’s truly modern.
If you want, tell me what kind of site or page you’re trying to build, and I’ll guide you through recreating it with Elements, step by step. You’ve got this—and the Power of Elements is on your side!
P.S. If there’s a specific feature or Classic workflow you miss, let the team know in the Feedback category—Elements is evolving fast, and your input shapes its future!
