Editing Globals-newb question

Old Rapidweaver Classic user, but exploring the switch to Elements- I downloaded a trial and ENGINEER RW Classic Template to play around with.
Lots to learn, but one question I haven’t been able to answer is; how does one edit a Global container image? For example, in ENGINEER there is a Welding image in a Global container. When I click in the Inspector Background Image there is no image shown. I can unlink it and add one, but the original welding image is still there. No where can I find the Welding image. ?

In particular, I’m looking for the px size of that image.

Look under the resources panel - the image should be there

You can make a global ‘template’ then duplicate page - then turn off - unlink from global - if you want to make that page or area different

Yes, I see the image now in Resources. Thank you.
Is there anyway to be able to change that image without creating a whole new global?

New feature - right click - replace image

That’s it! Awesome.

One more question; there appears to be a fade effect applied to the image. How does one modify that? Also, to fit the image to the container?

Check in the node browser to see if everything on the page is in a container. Check the background section of inspector of that container and you should find the background of the page

On one panel you’ll see a reveal component

Click on it and adjust in inspector

Lots of ways to fit image- depending on level your on..

Click on image - in inspector - go down to the bottom background - below the image are options

So this is the Container that the background image appears in.
It does not show any Reveal component for the image, nor does the Inspector for the Container show an image in the Background. Still confused where and how the image is adjusted.

Did you check in the “title” container??

No images or adjustments that I can find in the Inspector.
The ”title” folder or container highlights this text and effect.

I looked at the project. It is in the Engineer Global Header. Look at the background inspector for that component

Yes it is. Didn’t consider looking there, but now I see that the “title” container is within that.

Background Overlay controls the Opacity. Very cool.

A couple more questions about the Engineer template:

  1. How is the background color of the container holding the “welding” background image adjusted?
  2. How are the text colors of the header texts “ENGINEER”, “PORTFOLIO”, AND “TEAM” adjusted? I can change the one within each individual page, but the others in that page do not.

Still learning Elements and trying to figure this out…

  1. Using the node browser, go through each component, and you will eventually find it. That also lets you see how each component is set up, and helps to wrap your head around the settings for the components.

  1. Theme editor

Right. Theme setting it is, I think, which is locked out with the plan I just purchased.

“Theme creation and editing within Elements requires a Pro plan.”

While you can’t directly edit, you can override any of the settings in the theme which accomplishes the same thing as editing, but with hoops

Thanks, Steve, I just discovered the same thing! :upside_down_face: So many options, it’s a little overwhelming.
