Elements 3.0.6 Beta Now Available

Hey Weavers,

This latest build of Elements has some nice fixes and quality-of-life improvements. We’ve also been reorganising and updating the Elements Documentation with lots of new content, and more to come.

We’re firing on all cylinders, and are set on ensuring Elements is the best way to build beautiful websites on the Mac. Keep the feed backing coming, and I hope you’re enjoying all the improvements in Elements 3

What’s new in 3.0.6?

  • The Pages + button now opens a menu to create a New Page, File, or Folder
  • You can now rename custom components from the right-click menu
  • Duplicate custom component titles now auto-number on creation to avoid naming conflicts
  • Added three-state node visibility with Hide in Editor and Do Not Publish options
  • Front matter serialisation is now consistent across the Online Editor and MCP server
  • Fixed an issue where creating a new page during a title edit could name it “Table View Cell.”
  • Updated CMS and Forms API packages to address security vulnerabilities

Here’s three of the quality of life improvements in today’s release::

1. Do Not Publish or Hide

This has been a long requested feature, but you can now choose “Do Not Publish” or “Hide in Editor” for any components on a page. For components that are set to “Do Not Publish” they ate highlighted with a grey selection, and and are made semi-transparent making it easy to see what areas on the page will not be published.

CleanShot 2026-07-30 at 5 .28.28

2. Better naming of Custom Components

When creating new Custom Components they are now uniquely numbered along with an easy way to rename them: right-click > Rename Component

3. Easy Access to New Items

Click the + button now gives you options to create a New Page, New File, New Markdown File, New Link, New Folder, and New Folder from Selection. A lot of users didn’t realise these options existed as they used to be hidden behind a contextual menu.

How to Update to the Beta

While we believe the betas of Elements 3 are very stable, however, we don’t recommend using it on live, mission-critical websites. The Tailwind 4 framework touches most parts of the app, including how webpages render, so please check your sites for layout issues or changes before re-publishing.

To install the beta, launch your current build of Elements and go to Settings/Preferences. Under the Updates section, enable beta updates.

Once beta updates are enabled, go to the Elements menu and select “Check for Updates…”.

How to rollback to a previous build

Should you run into an issues when using a new build of Elements you can always rollback to a previous version via the Release Notes page while you wait for a fix.

Keep the feedback coming

Thanks for being part of Elements and for helping us shape the future of web design on the Mac. Your feedback during the beta has already been hugely valuable and will play a big role in where Elements goes from here!

We’re excited to keep building, refining, and shipping, and we really can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.

Thanks
Team Elements

. . .raised like yesterday as an idea, already in the update. Seriously? The Elements team is slowly raising a bunch of spoiled little user prats . . . just don’t tell them!

Huge respect and thank you for listening.

Mike I think you’ll find that these have been asked for quite a while especially being able to change orders of resources.

That may be… but it was off the back of the recent threads that bumped them up our to-do list

Thanks for giving the game away!:rofl::rofl: So if we repost about all thr things we have been asking for then they get bumped up the list ……. now where will I start? Please lets have bigger text or at least option to mske bigger for old blind bats like me! lets be able to close sections on components bar (like an accordion) to hide the ones you are not using, Lets be able to sort by different ways in components bar…….. OK I’ll stop there for now!:rofl::rofl:

Haha! It’s a constant juggle to prioritise what we want to add, and what users want us to add. We also try to prioritise the most requested features, but sometimes things aren’t simply to add, or will take longer. Building good software, especially as something as complex as Elements is really, really hard. We’re doing the best we can

Well, I am definitely impressed with the “voice” you provide your users and the “ear” you activate. Seriously. I replied to an email, yesterday (not realizing it would be posted to a forum). Got some great Community support and today… whaala!… the issue I brought up has been dealt with. I call that Cool!

Thanks!

Scott

Amen to that. Closing un-used/un-wanted component sections in specific projects would definitely help.

Also, I have a project with 38 (and counting) custom HTML components, all sensibly named, but the order is random and unchangeable - alphabetical would be better than nothing…

Now, with 3.0.6, creating a new HTML custom component still creates it in an apparently random location in the set of components… Create a second one and it’s randomly located somewhere else…

Great improvements  it’s now even easier to distribute and share custom components

Anyone having problems with this beta install ?

It’s downloading okay, but the install crashes without error and version stays on 3.0.5.

Sorry but I can not believe this!:smile::smile::smile::smile: It so easy using Elements much better than anything else around so it can’t be that difficult! You also have your priorities wrong you let staff members have holidays!  I mean what’s that about? Really “you’re doing your best” what a load of rubbish! The truth is you’re doing MORE THAN THAT so stop being modest it’s not you! Keep up the AMAZING work you’re doing and I’ll just keep doing the easy bit - Using ELEMENTS all day long!

If you’re still having issues… here’s a direct download link to Elements 3.0.6.
