Elements 3.0 Beta shipping next week

Yes, the thing to keep in mind is my cursor just flows from one thing to the next. I don’t have to grab the mouse to keep editing text. I can use the arrow keys or command short cuts to navigate all the text. All the styles are applied through the traditional Apple keyboard shortcuts. The images I would envision need to be manually selected with the mouse. (Though I suppose some image keyboard shortcuts could be applied, honestly I don’t use any.)

I think the other unique thing is the proximity and relationship of the containers are all retained throughout the editing process. It only changes if something is cut and pasted or specifically a “new style” is applied.

Don’t know if arrow keys are assigned or not… could use keyboard maestro and assign option arrows - possibly

The point is to keep it simple. A writer‘s interface. The second I have to start creating shortcuts to make a short cut it has lost its purpose.

While you can rename Containers to Article, it’s not quite the same thing, but yes, that’s what I think people are asking for. Particularly when you do the design of the site and then hand it off to someone else to populate. You don’t want them always in design mode while they’re working. You want to give them keystrokes to pull in those things. Also, it would be nice if you could paste in Markdown and then have a live Article for further edit.

Like you can currently do in the forum. Good request for markdown.

We do have a Markdown component already…

there is an Article tag in the advance tab of the container component

For the Core Elements app? Not the CMS. I didn’t know that.

I didn’t renew my subscription until more things settle and parts that I use change enough for me. Hoping v3 is it. If it’s there that is awesome. Not to repeat it all here, my main focus is what I referred to earlier.

Yes, we’ve had the Markdown Component in Elements for quite a while now…

This is genuinely helpful! Have you been able to assemble a full inventory of what Markdown syntax are available to the designer/writer?

It’s in the link if I remember

Thanks I should have looked. @dan Request for tables and nested list if it’s not already there.

Not the same thing, as its an indirect entry. What people are looking for is direct entry.

Janis WELCOME! I am 70 and made the “jump” last year from Beta version. I can tell you now you will not want to go back once you have started your journey. It’s the difference of building a website with a clunky diesel car and then experiencing the fastest best electric car. It is intuitive and you will love the WYSIWYG style.

I built an e-commerce site in RW5 and updated it since to RW Classic now its shiny bright and works quicker and much better with Elements.

I also taught my self how to do a few things in HTML in custom component to add a few little extras I wanted. My personal advice is just go for it you wont be sorry!

Thank you, Paul. Most encouraging.
I’ve already made the leap in my mind. . . .
But I am unsure how to properly reply to you via email. Hah!
Many thanks.
Best. Janis

@dan conic gradient, hopefully just create two rounded squares 1 inside the other, just add animate bit and get this effect

Yup, this “just works” in Elements 3 :tada: I even added a few controls just for fun…

Nice work, good to know, my previous attempts had image background with text, hover different image

Can’t wait, be my first custom component I create in tw4 - plus how far can I push it just in just Elements
