Elements and IONOS (formally 1and1)

Over the past dozens years or so I have been using Classic and Foundry 2. When I first opened my account with IONOS I purchased a domain and also was assigned a system domain which was just a radom name. Over the years I used that system domain as a test site. Today while troubleshooting Elements contract form IONOS told me I should not use that site as my test, and I should create subdomains for my four sites under my main domain, so the SSL Cerificate wildcards would work. I am just wondering if anyone else is using IONOS and how they struture thier main and test sites? Thanks in advance.

I agree with IONOS on the subdomain test site. The only problem is you can’t copy from one project to another in Elements. Or so I understand.

My current issue is with uploading to IONOS. I can only put a few files up at a time. A big set hangs the connection. Are you able to fully publish to IONOS?

Yes I am able to send up the whole site at once, and it is very large

i hate 1and1 (now ionos)….. and am moving all domains away from them as they come up for renewal (going to namebright). If you go thru the process of transferring your domain registration, they will prompt you with a deal of 30% off to stay.

So even if you want to stay, you can still save 30% by initiating the transfer process….. but then don’t complete it.

For me however I am annoyed enough to make the transfer at each renewal period (do it a couple of weeks early - if you wait till last minute they will block the transfer - “policy” they say).

Thank you for your input, but I have been using 1and 1 for years. I will try to make this work first. If unsuccessful, I will move on from them.

If you do look at moving on I recommend Chillidog hosting, they are brilliant and Greg is part of this group. RW and Joe Workman use them and both recommend them.
