Elements Base or Elements Plus

Hi everyone,

Having had my site stop being functional in RW8 + Foundry (luckily it’s now working after upgrading to Stacks 5), I can see as a longer term plan I need to upgrade and rebuild my site in Elements and want to take advantage of the current discount.

I’m unsure whether to go for Elements Base or Elements Pro - I can see the difference is around the amount of custom and global complements (limited vs. unlimited) and was wondering how and how often you use these within your builds to help me make my decision.

Hi,

I am no expert in this so went for the Plus licence in my first year because I am building two new sites and didn’t want to be limited by the licence restrictions.

Regards

Roger

Hey @ham-uk,

I think you’re going to love Elements once you move to it!

With regards to the license, we recommend most users go for the Plus license. You can upgrade or downgrade in app at any time. You only need to go for a Pro license if you’re building paid client websites.

Everything is explained in more detail on the license page in the docs.

Hope that helps, but do let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers!

Hi @dan ,

Thanks for your reply. I’ve downloaded Elements and have taken a look using the trial - it’s clear that it’s a game changer and I think I’ll move forwards.

My current website (built in RW8 + Stacks + Foundry) is https://www.hamiltonsargentcounselling.co.uk/.

I think I can re-create most of it but these are the bits where I’m unsure as to whether Elements has comparable components or solutions:

  1. How to achieve the down pointed border effect at the bottom of my header image. Currently using Mask stack included with Foundry - is there an equivalent (I couldn’t achieve this using a background image and angle option)? This stack also allows to me to set a View Height % for the size of this background and container (rather than px).
  2. Carousel/slider for content - not just images (see this under the “Latest resources” heading at bottom of the home page). Currently using Orbit 2 stack from Elixir Graphics.
  3. Vertical tabs - see Therapy for relationship issues | Wimbledon, Clapham & Online . Currently using Vertical Tabs stack included with Foundry which includes a great responsive change to a drop down menu for mobile devices.
  4. Equalize - a super helpful stack including with Foundry which helps background images staying the same height regardless of content within them (I’ve used this on my home page for the heading boxes under “Which therapy setting is the right fit for you”).

Some of this may be achievable using additional code. I have some experience with basic html and css but could you advise if I’m already able to do these in Elements, they are on their way or there are other ways to achieve these?

I also have used FontAwesome across my site and I’ve found it easy to add icons to, for example, the tabs titles as I just add the FA code as part of the text - are there any plans to include FontAwesome or would i need to find a work around using SVG?

Thanks for your help and apologies for the multiple questions - it’s helpful for me to understand what is possible and what I may need to adapt or wait for.
