Update to the latest Beta

Elements should prompt you while it’s running to let you know there’s an update, if it doesn’t you can select the “Check for Updates…” menu option from the “Elements” app menu.

Please note: Sometimes it takes a while for the update to propagate. if you don’t see the update in-app, you can download the latest build of Elements from the confirmation email you received as that link will ALWAYS give you the latest version.

Give Feedback on the Beta

If you are using the beta, please post all feedback in the Elements Beta Feedback Forum. You can use the Elements > Send Feedback… menu item to automatically pre-fill the build number into a new topic.

Get the Beta

If you’ve already signed-up for the beta, it might be a while before you get an email as we’re working our way through all the feedback. Hang tight for a little longer, you will get access in the coming weeks and months. If you’re not on the list, you should sign-up up here to be notified when the beta is publicly available.

I noticed an issue with the mobile, tablet, desktop icons in that they still don’t behave as expected with the latest beta.

Oh that is strange, hmmm, I may have seen that before…

I think it might be when Elements doesn’t have enough room for the breakpoint you selected, it then gets itself into a bit of a funk.

If you try with a new project and make the window big enough for all breakpoints, I don’t think you’ll hit the issue…

Anyway, I’ll add it to our bug list to get it fixed!

Hello Dan. A question about the beta versioning: I purchased a beta license. I note that your Sep 24 post references Beta 12, yet my Beta 10 appears to be the latest version and I can’t update it to v12. Am I missing something here?

Regards, Mike

Build 22909 is the latest beta 12.

Version 10 refers to Elements, i.e. Rapid Weaver Classic is Version 9.

Posted, just in case you were checking the Version 10 number as the beta number?

Not confusing at all…

Ah, I can see how this is confusing…

Version 10 refers to it being the 10th version of RapidWeaver. RapidWeaver Classic is version 9.x and RapidWeaver Elements was going to be version 10.x.

However, as development has progressed Elements has become more of it’s own thing and no longer represents the 10th version of RapidWeaver.

We need to update that to say version 1.0

All you need to care about right now is the build number. As you’ll see the numbers in the brackets of the about box (22909) matches the numbers of beta 12.

We’ll update the about box for the next beta

The app is still named ‘RapidWeaver Elements’ and I also noticed there’s a number app id references to ‘rapidweaver’ in the various ~/Library folders.

~/Library/Applications Scripts/com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaverelements
~/Library/Applications Scripts/P97H7FTHWN.com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaver
~/Library/Applications Scripts/P97H7FTHWN.com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaver8
~/Library/Applications Scripts/P97H7FTHWN.com.realmacsoftware.rapidweaverelements
etc.

Is the app called Elements (I thought it was) or RapidWeaver Elements?
While this is largely cosmetic, it might cause confusion down the road if left ambiguous.

FYI I don’t have RapidWeaver Classic installed on my system.

It’s not easy to erase/change some of these things as they are tightly built into the core of the product — Although, we’re still working on it so you can expect to see further changes as we go…

Officially the app is called “RapidWeaver Elements”. In our marketing efforts we’ll mostly refer to it as “Elements” - users already seem to be doing that for the most part. “Elements” is also my preferred name for the product.

Having the official name as “RapidWeaver Elements” also keeps us away from any copyright issues as “Elements” is very generic and already used by many other companies.
