Elements cloud app?

I’m a long-time Classic user who is used to paying for an app that resides on my computer and, I’ve never been a fan of subscription software. I purchased Elements in May to take advantage of the lower price before it changed. After updating my Mac OS system yesterday (so I could try Elements), I was totally surprised to find that Elements “built for Mac OS” appears not to be an app that resides on my computer. That should be made clear to people before they purchase the subscription.

Please explain how this app is “built for Mac” if it does not live on my Mac computer, what am I missing?

On another note my website has a fair amount of pages, txt, photos, video, Paypal buttons etc. that I’m now trying to figure out how to move to Elements (or whether I even should)? I did see the recent post Moving from Classic to Elements. Any other suggestions in that regard?

Long term, our websites, like everything in the digital domain I guess, would be at the mercy of whether RealMac and the platform continue to be in existence. I point to what happened with music software Finale which cease operating earlier this year. I and thousands of others who used it for decades were left in the very uncomfortable position of figuring out what to do going forward. The question here is, what becomes of our websites if this cloud platform disappears and there’s no app on our computer?

I have been using Elements for a year now and it has lived on my computer all of that time, it is certainly not living in the cloud. Although it does provide support for storing your projects in the cloud, which makes it a lot easier when dealing with support for Elements.

Where do you see the app on your computer? I don’t see it in the application folder of my computer. I do see Rapid Weaver Classic in my application folder, but I do not see Elements.

Do a search …

Did you move it to your Applications folder after you downloaded it??

OK I did find it in the downloads folder Thanks! I’m used to software that puts itself into the application folder when it’s installed. I’ve never had to go looking for it. I was also looking for “Rapidweaver Elements” but it’s just called “Elements”. E and R are far apart in the application folder! Thanks again
