Elements CMS - more information?

Is there any more information about the built-in CMS referenced in yesterday’s email, eg timing, functionality.

Hi @gallifrey55

We’re currently in the process of building out the CMS system. A couple of weeks ago, I shared a Blogging Preview on YouTube that gives an early look at the proof-of-concept — it’s worth checking out, as the CMS will work in a very similar way.

The CMS will be a flat-file system that uses PHP and Markdown. It reads content directly from markdown files and displays it on your site — no database required.

What makes this system powerful is its flexibility: you’ll be able to design your content freely using any built-in Elements components. That means you can place CMS-driven content inside a Grid, Flex, Container, or anything else — giving you full creative control over your layout and design.

We’ll also be introducing CMS Templates — pre-designed layouts that automatically pull in CMS data from your site. So, for example, adding a blog listing to your homepage will be quick and easy.

On top of that, the CMS will be open and extensible. Users and developers will be able to hook into the system, allowing for custom integrations, new features, and third-party add-ons in the future.

And yes — we’re planning to add online editing components too (although this will come later, after the CMS is in Elements). These will let you log in from anywhere and update, add, or remove content directly on your live site.

I can’t say exactly when all this will be finished and ship in Elements, but we are actively working on it as I type — so I would expect it to be weeks, rather than months!

Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any further questions
