Hi guys. Two more questions regarding the new CMS Online Editor and once more: you’ve done a great job!!
Does a client need a MAC in order to login and make changes? As it’s all browser based, I just want to be sure :))
Let’s say a client likes to make changes in a specific text field on the home page of his website, created with Elements. He now purchased a license in order to change different folders himself. Can I just define in Elements these text fields? Will they be in a specific folder like “home”?
For those cases in RW Classic I did use the Armadillo stack and created solo content fields with a specific ID. Please let me know the workflow in Elements, or can I find this in the documentation?
You can add a CMS Item component to the Home page and link it to the MD file. I put my MD files that I use for these in a directory I named pages under the CMS directory. The user can then edit this file through the CMS Online Editor.
@ben One problem I see currently is that if you do a re-publishing of the entire site, it will overwrite the changes the user made. You will need to mark those MD files in Elements after you first published as Do Not Publish. This prevents them the user changes from being overwritten. Do Not do what I did and delete them from within Elements. This removes the link with the Item component and when you republish, it breaks the link to the file.
Your client can login from anywhere and update their content. Could be a Mac, an iPhone, an iPad — if it has a web browser they can login to the Online Editor
You can use the Item component for individual pieces of content. You would set the Item’s “source” to a single markdown file. Here’s a video explaining how to do just that!
