The form works but it seems, all I’ve done is open another avenue for spammers. So far that’s all I’m getting from that form. Have robots figured out how to fill it out and click the box, or are actual people spending their time doing this?
Any suggestions on how to block the unwanted stuff while leaving the form active for those who want to use it for the intended purpose?
I use the Cloudflare option, which you do need to set up, and I have to say it does a fantastic job of filtering out spam. I don’t get any from the five different forms I have created for various sites. You can get it set up for free, so it does not cost money, but there is a process involved.
It uses a challenge mechanism where there is typically a checkbox displayed on your form that the user has to click to proceed.
The last option “Honey Pot” doesn’t need anything to be set up externally. You can start with it and see how it works. If you are still getting Spam, then the Turnstile, hCaptcha, and reCaptcha are good options, in that order. Those do require third party set up.
