This week Ben and I walk through the latest updates to RapidWeaver Elements, including a first look at the new Store Library features, the purchases and installed sections, instant updates, and a bunch of general improvements landing in the next release.
We also dig into the upgraded background components, CMS-powered background images, angled backgrounds, and how more focused third-party components will slot into the ecosystem as the Store opens up.
Plenty of behind-the-scenes chat in here about development decisions, upcoming improvements, and the reality of building a modern web design platform.
I hope it’s coming this week? I’ve found a decent workaround to use the IMAGE in a similar way, but I’m struggling with the background overlay for the IMAGE.
So the Background Image for CMS would be perfect timing. I’m hoping for today, tomorrow, or at least sometime this week?
FYI: We also publish some YouTube shorts alongside the Dev Talk each week, they are just some short (and sharable) clips from the weeks conversation. If you’ve not watched the full episode it should give you a flavour of what to expect…
keep in mind that CMS background image support is currently limited to the Background component, but we’ll be expanding it to more components in future updates.
Is it possible to see what is in the store before I would go down the Elements route as what extras such as a plugin for Ecwid store and Sitelok are some of the very basic additions I must have.
You should have got an invoice via email… however, don’t worry if you can’t find it. Tomorrow we’ll ship a new build of Elements that will have a list of your purchases and a link to your receipt inside the app!
I just updated Elements and checked the store. I now see the option to request a receipt, but I still don’t see an invoice. Perhaps I should explain what’s required for Belgian tax law.
For the Belgian VAT authorities, the invoice is the crucial mandatory document that forms the basis for VAT returns and VAT recovery. A receipt serves as proof of payment, but in most cases it does not replace the invoice and has insufficient evidentiary value for VAT purposes.
To be valid, the invoice must also include both the purchaser’s and the buyer’s VAT numbers, if applicable.
Do you think this is possible? Without an invoice, I can’t reclaim the VAT on my purchases, and it will be difficult for me to continue working with this platform.
Just had time time to listen to my moustachio friends and had a laugh “did you know you could have had a background video over 1 year ago” and then why did I laugh - when @Dan said “HELLO” to himself on You Tube! As you told no one you were live and you clicked on link to show you - you became the one and only one on your live link. Now this is not a criticism as you keep saying your new to pod cast lark but this amplifies exactly the same as not knowing you could have added a video. We are all at different levels of knowledge and skills and people just changing over can not learn everything at once.
I have been using ELEMENTS for a year nearly from Beta and I imagine I know about 20-30% of its power and this COMMUNITY is Ace at helping when you get stuck or need help. There has been recently an uptake on newbies asking questions which is great and long may it continue but it takes time to learn a new framework and at nearly 70 it takes a little bit longer to even remember why I am here!
So keep up the moustachio talks and remember no one knows everything!
