In the Elements Manual: “Yes. Elements Hosting integrates with Cloudflare as a Content Delivery Network (CDN).”
Will Elements set up a Registrar/Domain Name Server or is the suggested or preferable approach to use Cloudfare - per the manual - and point to Elements Hosting Name Servers?
My domain names are scattered over several DNS providers. I would like to transfer to one entity and wonder if Cloudfare is the perfered candidate once I move websites to Elements Hosing, or will Elements also be a DNS provider?
asked the bot: As of now, Elements Hosting focuses on providing top-notch hosting services specifically optimized for Elements users. It doesn’t currently offer domain name registration services. You’ll need to register your domain with a separate domain registrar and then point it to your Elements Hosting account. This approach ensures you get the best of both worlds: a great domain and fantastic hosting tailored for Elements!
Thanks for the questions, really appreciate your interest in our upcoming hosting service.
For now I wouldn’t put too much faith in the bot, it pulls from our documentation and our hosting documentation is still a work in progress.
To answer your questions:
Our plan is to not offer DNS hosting and instead route customers through Cloudflare due to their numerous performance, optimization, and security benefits. So yes you’d register your domain with us (we do plan on offering domain name registration services), or with a third-party domain registrar of your choice, and point your nameservers to the Cloudflare provided ones. We’ll have more information on how all this will work coming soon.
Also great news, we will set this up for our clients as part of our managed hosting services, so you won’t have to lift a finger to get your DNS properly set up and working, only if you want to.
Again we don’t plan on offering DNS hosting and our preferred provider will be Cloudflare, however you are free to choose whichever DNS provider you are comfortable with. We aren’t going to lock anybody into anything, you’ll have complete control and choice over who your DNS provider will be, we just strongly recommend Cloudflare and it’s who we’ll be working with.
Good to hear we can use other services. From my point of view, Cloudflare is not GDPR conform and needs adjustments, sometimes consent and as others a dedicated mentioning in your data protection declaration.
