Elements Hosting Updates - Early Testers Information

Can Fastmail use multiple different custom domains?

You can use custom domains on Fastmail, but their docs don’t really say how many custom domains you can set up.

You can probably contact their support and ask them how many custom domains you are allowed to set up on each email plan that they offer…

You can have up to 100 domains and 600 aliases/additional addresses under a single-user account or mailbox, at no extra cost. Hope this helps I asked earlier today!

@ercross Aloha Edward, can you please DM me a screenshot of how you set up your contact form in Elements to work with iCloud mail? I have it all working on the mail front; now I just need to get the contact form back up and running.

Paul, is that for a personal or a business account?

Hi Robin,

The Username has to be your primary iCloud account, it can’t be an alias or custom domain address.

You can use your custom domain email address in the From Address and To Address.

The Password has to be an App Specific Password. When you get this from iCloud make sure to write it down because you can’t look it up afterwards. If you lose it, you can always create a new one if you need to. Here’s a link about how to set up an App Specific Password, Sign in to apps with your Apple Account using app-specific passwords - Apple Support

I didn’t mention business just said I have a number of domains. There only appears to be three price plans n there website and I ca not see a differential between business or private. I can always ask for you.

I ended up finding all the information. The main difference between the Personal and Business plans is the amount of storage you get.

Awesome, the two pieces of information I was missing was the fact that the username needed to be that of my main iCloud account and that I needed to use TSL instead of SSL. All working great now.

Mahalo for your help.

I signed up to fast mail business account, could not get the DNS settings resolved, their support was hopeless , repeated requests for support absolutely no replies, so looking at proton

Hey @macca

If you still have the Fastmail account, we can probably walk you through it. I’ve gotten Fastmail working in our contact forms without issue.

Let me know if you want to give it another try. But yes ProtonMail does seem to offer SMTP mail sending per their help guide here How to set up SMTP to use business applications or devices with Proton Mail | Proton

I had the same issue with Fastmail. For three days it said the settings were incomplete (they weren’t). I copied and pasted their records into my domain and it didn’t work. I finally gave up.

One of the main benefits of hosting with us, is that we will manage all this technical stuff for you, so you can just get on with your day and focus on building amazing websites in Elements. :slightly_smiling_face:

No hassle, no fuss.

Something as simple as adding text and mx records to a domain should be pretty straight forward, but apparently its not. I’m looking forward to seeing what your hosting offers once it’s available. Thanks!

Hi,

I have one website that I’d be interested in being used for Elements Hosting as an early tester but have a question. My website is a Rapidweaver 9.6.8 + Stacks are you accepting sites like this or is it just for Elements websites?

98% of my traffic is from the UK so being on a UK server would be ideal. I don’t need any email hosting services. Thanks

Hi @Jamie1

Thanks so much for your interest. At the moment we aren’t accepting any additional early testers, however if one existing early tester drops off of our list, I can give you their spot. I’ll let you know as we get more onboardings done.

We’re accepting all RapidWeaver built sites, so that includes RapidWeaver Classic and RapidWeaver Elements. Please note though that if you are using Classic + Stacks, any Stacks/stacks related technical issues would still need to be directed to the respective third-party developer so they can fix any bugs or issues with their product(s). However given our familiarity with the ecosystem, we can provide the necessary logs you’d need to pass to the third-party developer for troubleshooting, or you can just grant them collaborator access to your specific Classic + Stacks built website on our hosting, and they can just check things out for themselves.

Perfect and perfect, sounds like it’s a great fit then! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks for the reply Dan yes if one of your early testers drops off your list I can step in.

There’s no rush I’m currently with Chillidog hosting who’ve been great but because it’s now changed ownership I’m looking for a new hosting service between now and when that expires in a few months time.

I would like to be added

Hi @llangpierce

Thanks for your interest! At the moment our Early Tester list is full, however if someone drops off I can certainly get you added in their place.

Keep an eye out though, as our public launch shouldn’t be too far behind. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you have any questions let me know.

no worries. I will be patient
