I’ve been using Rapidweaver since 2008 and still wouldn’t say I’m an expert in it. I’ve only created a few web sites, and love how each new one I create leads me to learn more about the tool, whether it be Classic or Elements.
With the launch of the marketplace, and no doubt third party devs lining up to populate it, something Ben said in a recent post resonated with me. He said when it comes to component settings, and I paraphrase, ‘less can be more’.
Please can there be a ‘simple’ and ‘advanced’ list of component settings?
As an example, music software such as ‘Falcon’ and ‘Omnisphere’ are enormously complex and you can create any sound you can imagine - and many you can’t imagine. There are hundreds of settings you can tweak under the hood. However, they also offer a single page for each sound that shows usually 4-6 rotary knobs and a couple of sliders (with tool tips) which offer the must used and most useful options. Yes, you can click into the under the hood settings and tweak to your heart’s content, but for most users, the simple view is a godsend.
A similar option for Elements components would be great, and I’m sure be manna to those folk who download the demo but find the sheer depth of options too much. Have a ‘Simple’ tab on components with the most likely used options, but also have an ‘Advanced’ option where braver or more knowledgeable folk can roll up their sleeves and have some fun.
