Export problems with RapidWeaver 8X

Dear Aaron,

I tried to: Go to RapidWeaver > Preferences > Publishing and make sure “Upload Logging” is enabled

I did this and restarted the app but it did not fix the problem… Again. I can get my two web sites to publish or export but first I have to preview all of the pages patiently, close the app, restart it and try again. Often after doing this once or twice, it works… It took me awhile to discover this workaround…

The plain text document you requested is attached.

Thanks for looking into this!

(Attachment RapidWeaver Logs (2020-02-06) (17-54-25).txt is missing)

tried to attach the document and the email was rejected… Then tried to copy and paste the text to the email and it was also rejected… How do I send you the text file?

Alcino

Are you attaching it to this forum message? Or are you starting a new message and sending it to support@realmacsoftware.com? The forum doesn’t allow attachments when replying to posts via email…

Hi All

I also tried the ‘preview each page etc’ route but that also failed.

One odd additional thing, I apologise if this seems long-winded!

As I have mentioned previously, I am able to upload an older pre-updated version of the problem website, as well as other sites under the same multi hosting package.

So I tried the following.

I carefully, cut and pasted each ‘revised’ page from the updated version into a copy of the older version, I also removed one file heavy page reducing the overall file size to below the updated version.

This managed to update, HOWEVER, it only worked once as when i tried to re-publish with some links corrected I was back at square one.

This has been going on for 3 weeks or more now, it would be great to get to the bottom of it.

PS I have sent the upload log to Aaron at Realmac.

I experience this problem when I change a page from draft to “not draft”. Putting it back doesn’t help me. The only solution is getting the backup .zip file and start all over again. Deleting the page doesn’t help, as soon as “I touch it” the whole thing gets into “unable to publish” mode. I hope this gets fixed in the next update. I don’t use any plugins etc. just bare bones pages. Excellent software BTW, happy user.

Hi Aaron,

I have sent my publishing log to you and your company multiple times almost a week ago. No one has gotten back to me. I have critical information that I need to post on my website and have not been able to do that for over a week. Can ANYONE help me resolve this issue?
When I try to publish, it just hangs there and ends with a sound. No error message. The software also will not save any changes I made to any files. I recently upgraded to v8.5 and it worked for a few days and then stopped.

Without more information it’s probably difficult to say what’s going on.

That’s of greater concern than the publishing issues. Not being able to save would probably be an indicator that the project file has gotten corrupted somehow.

I’d go back to a TimeMachine (or what ever you’re using) backup of the Project file. If you can’t save changes then publishing is going to be secondary issue.

I believe that part of the publishing process saves the project file.

Once you have a project file that saves, then retry publishing. If that doesn’t work than post back here with more details like:

  • screenshots of the publishing settings
  • name of hosting company
  • screenshot of any error messages

I’m in the process of rebuilding my site due to ongoing publishing problems  … what I have discovered is that it has something to do with my blog page. The new site publishes fine without it …
