Struggling getting a form to work using SMTP within a Fastmail account. Any suggestions on specific Elements form settings?
I didn’t have much luck getting Fastmail to work in my contact form with smtp settings. I ended up using a webhook which works flawlessly.
Dev Diary Episode 67 gives a lot of helpful info on how to utilize Webhooks.
Thank you. Time to give up and look at webhooks or alternative.
I used Zapier.com. It was pretty straight forward.
Hi @MHA
You are on our hosting, we got you. ![]()
You’ll need to use an App Specific Password in your Elements Form Settings. Steps on how to set that up in Fastmail are below:
Go to your Settings in Fastmail:
Click on New App Password
Choose Custom from the first drop down and give it a name, then select SMTP from the second drop down, then select Generate password.

Copy that new password to your Elements Form Settings >> Password field.
Republish your site after that and let me know when you are finished so I can test your form. ![]()
Just a follow-up, we were able to quickly troubleshoot and diagnose the issue here. Just one of the form fields needed to be adjusted with the correct SMTP authentication details. ![]()
This was super easy (and fast) for us to fix due to the site being hosted with us.

As the beneficiary of Daniel’s trouble shooting, I’m expressing my gratitude for Elements Hosting support.
I’d like to add my two cents as another beneficiary of Daniel’s (@differentdan) expertise and patience. He made the process of setting up my hosting package a pleasant and painless process. Especially considering that my needs were not necessarily straightforward due to the number of domains and sites involved.
But he handled it all with aplomb and efficiency.
I can safely say that anyone who opts to go with the Elements Hosting service is going to be pleasantly surprised by what a difference it makes to have a MANAGED hosting package.
From my point of view, having this additional service makes it a no-brainer to select Elements for your website needs.
