Feedback on Categories for Tutorials

Since we started Elements we’ve been expanding and improving the manual, while there’s still a lot to do, we’ve made a lot of progress.

I’m also starting to organise some of the YouTube content we’ve recorded into the Video Tutorials area.

All feedback, and ideas appreciated

After my comment yesterday and your reply (thank you), I spent more time looking deeper into the User Manual. The User Guide section of the User Manual is most useful for me as is.

Please understand that my comments reflect my personal perspective only. I am a basic user. I may explore more advanced features later, but for now, I am only interested in creating a text-heavy website with articles between 800 and 2,500 words.

I need to be able to copy and paste my article (likely plain text) into Elements, and then I expect to:

  • format it,

  • build links,

  • add it to related articles navigation,

  • add metadata,

  • ensure it is fully accessible for both screen readers and human readers, and

  • publish it.

I typically spend 3–10 hours researching and writing each article to achieve the result I want. Therefore, investing much more time in formatting is not practical for me. I work best with templates.

RapidWeaver Classic was nearly perfect in terms of usability because my needs are simple and template based. I may not be the target audience for Elements, or perhaps the app has not yet been developed with my type of user in mind.

Thanks for what you do and I appreciate the opportunity to submit my feedback.
