Form component from name and from address?

What are these fields used for in a form?

From name is what you see here when you receive the mail.
From address is the address you see here behind the twirl down on the from name.

As @Doobox sat, those fields are used to set the “From Name” and “From Email” for the emails that are sent to you via the form.

This setup is important because most hosting providers place restrictions on which email addresses are allowed to send mail from their servers.

In other words, you usually can’t send an email “from” any arbitrary address (like the visitor’s own email) as that would be considered email spoofing, and many servers will block or flag it as spam.

Instead, emails must be sent from a verified email address on your domain, typically something like no-reply@yourdomain.com or forms@yourdomain.com. These are the details your hosting provider knows and trusts, so the email will go through successfully.

We still include the visitor’s name and email as part of the message body and set the “Reply-To” address to be the visitor’s own email address as that way, when you hit reply, you will respond to the person who filled out the form, not the default “from” address.

Hope that helps!
