Foundry or Foundation, what is more complete and future proof?

The loading time of your website is not as good as it should be.

Thanks that is interesting! could this be because of the formloom stack or the in total 4 slider stacks, or maybe the size of the images? I keep learning! Thanks!

Thanks again! I have used png files, would jpg files be a better option?

PNG files are only needed when you have a transparent background, otherwise JPG are better.

However, you need to do a lot of image optimisation work on your site, also look in to lazy loading options too.

Joe has a really good video about WebP (a newer and more efficient image format) and images in Foundation 6, well worth a watch How to use WEBP images for Faster Websites - YouTube

The file size for images should be as small as possible.
jpg images are usually always better than png images.
PNG only under certain circumstances, for example when a transparent area is desired.

Besides the file size, the image size is of course also important. Large images only if necessary.

Excuse my bad English, this is not my language.

@pmjd
WebP Images?
I’m not sure if this is supported by all browsers?
jpg images can be downsampled well with the right tools without any loss of quality.

For downsampling jpg images I use the tool: https://pichiapp.com
or Optimage for Mac: Free Download + Review [Latest Version]

However, there are also numerous free online tools.

Thanks! watching it now!

WebP isn’t supported by older versions of Safari (I can attest to that on my iPhone 6 and 2011 MacBook Pro) but is well supported by almost all modern browsers.

So having a fallback option to png/jpg is a good option.

The video I linked to covers how to use WebP with a fallback in Foundation 6.
There is Shakingthehabituals’ Srcerer stack(s), which includes a WebP stack with 1X and 2X WebP support and 1X 2X fallback.
WillWoodgate also has a free WebPStack that does the same.

The live stream tutorials work quite well when accompanied by demo project files. The latest release of updates to the swatch pack shows exactly what each swatch does in a RW project so that you can see the workings. You don’t get that with a written document. I’ve started to keep my own demo project file going with multiple sections, whenever I find out how to build something interesting that I might use again. That way building a new site often just starts with a copy/paste job and a bit of tweaking. The other thing about the live stream is that it keeps things fresh and interesting as nearly every week there is something new to learn.

Since this thread has been re-opened, I should add that since this post was created, Foundation 6 has a completely new demo website that should serve as pretty good documentation since I also provide you with the RW project file used to generate the demos.

Very nice Joe. Great Demo site.

Thanks Joe and I reading it.
Today when changing all my image from jpg to jp2 & .webp I found out that when publishing my website the images are all converted into .png… Is this something in Foundation or Rapidweaver, I have added the image and retina boxes… regarding my website https://monnee.in Or do I need to save them at another place?

Did you watch my live stream on Webp? I talk about this exact topic

You may want to start a new thread about this since it’s not really related.
