Hi, my name is Jan and I have been around RapidWeaver for quite some time. You may have read a comment here and there. My business is website creation and RapidWeaver is my favorite way to do so. Now I have teamed up with Egomade, which you might know from his excellent templates and design work.
We know Rapidweaver Classic has provided a solid home for many web projects for years. But with RapidWeaver Elements, a new chapter begins for all of us: faster loading times, modern layout technology and an easier workflow.
For some users, however, this switch can feel overwhelming. Layouts shift, stacks are no longer compatible, and technical terms like Tailwind CSS suddenly sound confusing.
This is where our service comes in: all the work of porting your Classic project to RapidWeaver Elements is handled – professionally, transparently and reliably.
Please contact me for any questions, here or on our website. Thank you!
It would be great to have a common space where all the initiatives promoting the transition from classic to Elements, as well as some from other developers and services, can be brought together in one place.
Your work in importing assets from classic projects into Element is fantastic, and letting users know that there’s also a (newly formed) external support ecosystem would be very helpful.
I hate to be a Debby downer, but going from Rapidweaver with Stacks to having to spend lots more for a Yearly subscription and now needing someone (and paying them) to create a site on Elements, seems to be “inflation”. Perhaps those who follow this route can charge off on their customers. Me, I am down to one site showcasing my veggie garden efforts. I will hold on a bit more and stay the course. Life goes on, but I don’t…..ha, ha.
They’re different programs, and it takes some practice to use Elements. The subscription is annual, but the app remains available ( with no updates)
With the tools provided by the framework in the app, you can create a website, and you’ll find several templates, even free ones. I’ve even made some by replicating some RW Classic themes.
Changing habits takes energy, but sometimes it’s necessary. If you can put it off, all the better; you’ll have time to try the free version.
Not everyone has the same needs; you just need to give users time to evaluate things.
I started with RW 6, still use RW (8.9.4) today with just my one site left now. Took me less than a week to get things to work for me when I first came on board. I came from Front Page and spent the last 15 years or so enjoying “playing” with my web sites.
My point was simply that Elements has moved, in my opinion, to a more expensive undertaking, with a greater learning curve. That is just my take after having tried out an early rendition of Elements. At 80 years old, I no longer have the ability to retain new methods, content and happy to still remember how to use RW, Stacks and add-ons.
If developers are able to work with Elements to enhance the product, I am happy for them, just like I enjoyed supporting the developers who made add-ons for RW.
Since this forum is for RW Classic, I just wanted to point out my feelings about RW, Stacks and stacks…..it has been a good product for me and fun to use.
