Beware if you just update to 1.2 and then update your web site you will get “Oops … Failed to load content” messages in the lightbox as the default is not max width original but 1200px (and the publish doesn’t create these 1200px resized images).
I looked at the setting and changed it from 1200px to original before republishing again and that updated the index files to reference the resources that were already on the web server. It would have been potentially less obvious if it had created the 1200px versions and published them as I wanted my originals (which are 2048px by design) but I use my own script to push content to my web server and it’s quite obvious when resources are being pushed.
Hello Ben,
Yes, that’s it. Wonderful, now I can really use Gallery Pro. I’ve already started using Gallery Pro on my website.
Thank you very much for this upgrade, it’s simply fantastic.
See Classic Skirt – the white structure in the fabric was no longer visible before. Have a great day!

Just a comment as a photographer who really doesn’t want to learn CSS & JS I would prefer it if Elements stuck with doing the tricky HTML design stuff and let me (and the other tools I use) do the tricky photography stuff, including scaling and cropping. In a “Pro” edition of a component I would expect you you default the control to the user so that max width setting should be original and not some scaling you have done in the background via some unknown tooling. I would also prefer to have more control over the thumbnails even if that creates more work for me outside of Elements. I suspect that I’ll be doing more coding to replace the Elements images with my own before I push to publish.
I have another suggestion : I have seen on some web site galleries that the legend (caption, author, future linkURL( ) is present when the image appears on the screen and then after x msec, disappears (navigation arrows could disappear too). So you are left with a nice neutral contemplative view of the picture. And if you want the caption and legend visible again to recheck, you just move the mouse, over the picture. you can see that effect there WORK - Dirk Braeckman (feel free to remove this link if not good usage). so maybe you could add a flag for “disappear” and a mSec field.
@Dan or @Ben Could you please make some more advanced video on how to use Gallery Pro 1.2. There are things I don’t understand. I need a text boxes under each image. A Title box and a Description Box. How do I ad them.
Not video but … Go to the image in your resources and then on the right pane select the (i) option at the top for information about the resource and then you can edit the “caption” and “author” fields to get the two lines you want. You’ll also need to turn on showing caption and author if you want both lines (which I don’t).
@Dan’ @Ben I couldn’t agree more. Please split the component into smaller bits. That give us more controle. I’m not a photographer, but I make websites containing art work. And it comes in all sizes.
