I have over one hundred photos in my gallery, with images in folder named ‘gallery’.

The gallery page itself is setup to load media from the ‘gallery’ folder which works as expected.

If I add alt text to each photo will robots crawl my ‘gallery’ folder to see this alt text info and therefore include in search results.

Sorry if this sounds a silly question, however because my gallery images are not shown elsewhere I don’t see how the crawlers will see the alt text if they don’t access my gallery folder?

I’ve got 400 trumpet player photos but no alt names…

The alt text will be embedded in the html of the page, so yes, they’ll be able to read it :slight_smile:

So if I were to view the source of the page I would be able to see the alt text info?

Well… right now we use the “caption field” for alt tags…

We recently added the “Alt” field, but we need to update all components to take advantage of this new field.

We plan to do that after the CMS 2 Update is out!

Ah, ok.

I spent all today updating my photos ‘Alt Text’ field so will leave it all there for now.

I’m not expecting an actual time scale but is it likely to be weeks or months?
