BACK UP AND RUNNING
Hello,
Thank you for contacting pair Networks.
You were right in that the php 8 series does not play nicely with your
sites. Setting this back down to php74 has resolved these issues for now.
To change the verison of php I added the following lines to call php74
instead of php8
AddType application/x-httpd-php7 .php
Action application/x-httpd-php7 /fcgi-bin/php7_wrapper.sh
You can change this back to php 8 by commenting these lines out of each
domains respective .htaccess file. As all your sites were effected, I had
created a .htaccess file within the public_html directory, as well as the
original playtheblues diretcory.
You can read more on the changes between php74 and the 8 series as well as
the bets steps to prepare your site for the change with this guide.
I hope this helps!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Devin

Hi @MichaelDroste,
This error is caused by RapidCart using functionality which is no longer supported in PHP 8 and newer.
Since RapidCart is no longer supported, there won’t be any updates to the product to fix this.
As your host has explained, for now you can “fix” this by running an older version of PHP. However, this is not without risk. PHP 7.x is very old, and no longer supported. There won’t be any security fixes or patches for this version of PHP, and there are quite a few exploits out there that can seize a website or inject malicious code into websites that run on PHP 7.x.
Eventually, your host will stop offering PHP 7.x altogether, and this workaround will no longer work.
My advice to you is to phase out RapidCart as soon as possible and switch to something that does support PHP 8.x, and update your PHP version to PHP 8.x directly after that.
Vibracart Pro ($60, Vibralogix Ltd is comparable to RapidCart in functionality and works great with RapidWeaver.
Cheers,
Erwin
I sell very few books and recordings…
I want to keep it as long as possible…
600 recordings (for playtheblues.com)
A lot of work for very little under $20 per year sales…
I switched to vibralogix when I made a new store… but the company folded - had 15+ products
Thank you for answering and your feedback
Best
Mike
