Google Fonts disappearing

Sometimes the Google fonts are missing in the Solar theme: Nunito and Source Sans 3.

They often come back when closing and opening Elements again, but sometimes I have to restart my Mac mini.

Is it better to download Google fonts and put them Resources? @differentdan

I’ve tried to reproduce that behavior but haven’t been able to. Are there any out of the ordinary steps you are taking when those Google fonts don’t load that I can try on my end to see if I can reproduce it?

Perhaps downloading the Google fonts and setting them as a custom font would help mitigate that. Below are the documents on how to get custom fonts added:

Not doing anything ordinary, just working on the project and suddenly my Header font Nunito is changed to some system font.

Perhaps a memory problem on my Mac mini M1 with 8 GB? No big deal as long as the font comes back when I close and open Elements again.

Good video about fonts.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same issue. The different heading and paragraph fonts that I had previously assigned are now gone. This is frustrating. They are Google fonts, not downloaded.
Looking for other options like downloading to server.

Close elements and open again …

do you have a link to a page where the fonts aren’t working?

It affects all the pages in the whole project. I had reconnected several of the main fonts, like the headers, and paragraphs. This is probably my 3rd time having to reconnect them over the past year. The only problem is being able to remember what fonts I had previously chosen so I have to go down the list and think, “okay, this one looks good”, etc.

Closing the project and reopening did not restore my previous selections.

Elements users reported Google Fonts API quota issues.

Hi @IdahoSAM,

Sorry this keeps happening. Downloading the Google Fonts and adding them as project resources will be more stable, but they still shouldn’t disappear.

This looks like the fonts failing to load rather than the choices being wiped. If a relaunch brings them back, that probably means the API call failed and Elements didn’t attempt to retry it.

I’ll look into that.

Cheers
