Google Maps, reCaptcha, Server issues

OK, I am officially screwed.

Google has somehow managed to render their maps obsolete. None of my Google maps in my 100+ websites work any more.

reCaptcha has also changed, and not for the better. It is now practically impossible to use. On a new site I just created, the forms do not work. Apparently, I have to go through a 1000x more convoluted process than before which is way over my head and is giving me a headache just looking at it.

And to top it all, for the last 2 years, my server keeps banning me each time I try to upload a website. Too many connections, it says. In the meantime, I have absolutely no control over the number of connections my mac generates to the server’s IP, and can only monitor them via Little Snitch, but even that is not reliable or helpful in the least. Realmac blames the host, and the host blames Rapidweaver, while I am in the middle getting slapped from either side.

Assuming I do not just say “screw it!” and quit the business altogether, any serious suggestions?

So sorry to hear you’re having all these issues.

While I’m not sure what we can do on the Google Maps and reCaptcha front, as I assume those are all third-party addons? We can certainly help with publishing!

Can you let me know the following:

  1. What version of RapidWeaver are you using?
  2. Who is your hosting company?
  3. What protocol are you using (SFTP, FTP, etc)?
  4. Does RapidWeaver or you host give you an error? and if so what is the error? It would also be useful to see the emails you’re hosting company have sent you.

You also have a few things you can try right now.

  1. In Classic, ensure your publishing connections are set to “1 - Slowest”. We also made some publishing improvements in Classic 9.5 (and we have some more on the way).

  1. If your host is insistent that RW is the issue, you can export your website locally and upload it with a third-party FTP client, like Transmit.

  2. You could look at moving hosting companies (they don’t sound great to be honest), have you thought about using Chillidog Hosting? They 100% support RapidWeaver and offer top-notch support.

Let me know how you get on with the above.

After reviewing your other posts, it’s becoming increasingly clear that RapidWeaver itself is not the cause of the problem. You’ve mentioned that you’re encountering the same issues when using Cyberduck, which rules out RapidWeaver as the source and strongly suggests the problem lies elsewhere. This is a really important clue, and should not be ignored.

You also noted that your host banned you for “starts hammering port 7” which is unusual, as port 7 is not used by RapidWeaver or Cyberduck at all. This further reinforces the idea that something external to these applications is triggering the issue. Something in your hosting setup perhaps.

At this point, I’m not sure what else to suggest beyond switching hosting provider (we recommend Chillidog). But I can confidently say this doesn’t appear to be a RapidWeaver issue.

For reference, here are the related threads you’ve posted:

We’re happy to help out however we can, but it’s hard to fix an issue not in our control

Sorry I can’t be of more help on this one.
