Hi during covid times I upgraded my website, (both via Rapidweaver) unfortunately I appear to have left some or all of the old pages loaded via FTP on the Justhost server.
Google shows two names for my website:
See picture.
I’m now struggling (as I understand nothing about ‘Folders’ being hosted, via Justhost.com?!) And I don’t want to delete the wrong ones!
Can anyone help in layman’s terms?
PS I’m using RW8 Thank you.
Hi @keithd5678,
Not sure that screenshot is indicating anything about duplicate files/folders. It sort of seems like it’s just listing your naked domain (revolutiondance.co.uk) along with the full domain URL (https://www.revolutiondance.co.uk).
There is more information on how to add domain properties to Google Search Console:
I think you probably only need one of them added (the one that actually shows up in the user’s browser address bar when they visit your site), however I don’t use Google so…
When I visit revolutiondance.co.uk in my browser, it actually directs me to the unsecured http version of your site (http://revolutiondance.co.uk), which is bad.
I’d recommend forcing an https:// redirect so that the unsecured version of your site always redirects to https://. Make sure you have an SSL certificate installed on the site. Also, if you are wanting your website to load using https://www.revolutiondance.co.uk, you will need to set up a non-www to www redirect as well, because I can visit both non-www and www versions in my browser.
Hope that makes sense, if not please let us know.
EDIT:
Actually, seems like you only need the revolutiondance.co.uk domain property in Google Search Console and it will cover all subdomains and the protocol. Seems you can delete that https://www.revolutiondance.co.uk domain property in Google Search Console as it’s redundant.
Hi Dan,
Thank you for this.
I’m really not sure if I have fixed it, but have tried to follow instructions and added a forward to the http one
Would you mind just checking if both revolutiondance.co.uk http & https, are still being search via Google, as I’m not 100% sure how you found out both websites were being searched, when you looked! If you could double check that’d be great & in your own time. Very much appreciated & thanks for all your help.
Cheers
Keith
Looks like the site is successfully directing to https now, so you are all good there.
I’m still able to reach both https://www.revolutiondance.co.uk and https://revolutiondance.co.uk though. You will want to pick one and then direct the other one to it. For example if you want the site to load over https://www.revolutiondance.co.uk, then you would need to redirect the non-www version to the www version.
Does your web host use cPanel? This should be easy to do from their redirect tool.
Not a problem, happy to help.
Hi, really sorry to bother you again!
From your comment below (See lower down), does this mean I have the same website running twice?
As you state:
‘I’m still able to reach both’.
If so, how will I know the correct one to redirect as both seen to show the same content/updates?
Again sorry if I’m missing the obvious. Thank you, Keith

(https://www.revolutiondance.co.uk) and https://revolutiondance.co.uk though. You will want to pick one and then direct the other one to it.
